I was given this recipe by a really good friend of mine. I love getting handwritten recipes from people. It feels so authentic and personal to me. These are recipes that people share with their loved ones. And then they took the time to sit down and write it. I adore handwriting. Mine is not the best, but if I write very slowly I can produce something I am proud to share. Also, since people so rarely give handwritten recipes anymore, it feel extra special to me!

Fried Green Tomatoes- Guest Post from Supper For a Steal
Hi! I’m Lane from Supper for a Steal. I’m excited to be posting over here today and sharing something a little different than I typically blog about. Usually you can find me menu planning and creating recipes around the weekly Publix ad, but today I am sharing a recipe I love, fried green tomatoes.
I was a little worried that green tomatoes would be hard to find this late in the season, but I was at a local produce market over the weekend and saw some beautiful, huge, green beefsteak tomatoes.
Being a southern girl I love all fried foods and fried green tomatoes are such a guilty pleasure when we go out to eat. When I stumbled across Southern Living’s fried green tomato recipe and saw how simple the ingredients were I knew they would be making an appearance in my kitchen soon.
We like to dip these in jalapeno ranch dressing for a little kick. With all that extra buttermilk you will have you could whip up a quick batch yourself.
Tuna Salad Sandwich
My friend Arbor made these. Everyone loved them! The giardiniera peppers were really spicy! They added a nice zip to the sandwich.
Pico de Gallo with Mangos
My friend Zach made this delicious pico de gallo!! I loved it. I am definitely going to be making it soon.
Zach says, “Pico de gallo is super easy and easily adaptable to what you’ve got around. It’s a good side dish for any “scraps” that are laying around. {It is also} good in tacos as well. Next time I think I’ll add more mango. Pico de gallo in Spanish means “beak of the rooster”. It’s not something to be taken seriously.” Continue reading
Spinach Basil Pasta Salad
I had a dinner party!! It was great; wonderful people and scrumptious food. We also played a mean game of aggravation. My team was so close to winning. So close!!!! But alas, we lost. I call for a rematch!!
#Tomatolove: Super Easy Salsa
July is #tomatolove month!! I am hosting this month! In the past I participated in #icecreamlove, #pastalove, #berrylove, #greenslove, #chocolatelove.
I love making salsa. It is normally really easy and so delicious!! This recipe is no exception. I have also been trying can. And salsa is such an easy thing to make that I can focus on the canning. But I can’t imagine how much I would have to can to keep me in salsa for the whole year! Wow, I am so impressed by anyone who actually cans everything they need of any staple food item.
Guacamole
I had a dinner party last weekend and Arbor made guac!! Everyone seemed to love it. I am not partial to onions, so I did not partake. But it was gone by the end of dinner, so it must have been good
Surdyk’s Greek Orzo Salad
This was a delicious salad. My friend Amy made it. It was a great addition to the meal!
