Spiced Edamame

These are interesting.  You are suppose to leave them in the pods.  So the really intense spices, are actually just eh.

I think next time I will lessen the spices and put them directly on the pod.  On the upside I was able to use my new dishes.

Spiced Edamame

  • 1 pound frozen edamame in the pod
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper

1. Bring a medium pot of water to boil. Season with salt. Add edamame pods and cook uncovered, 5 to 6 min. Drain and pat dry.

2. Heat the 2 teaspoons salt, chili powder, and pepper flakes in a small dry skillet over medium heat stirring until hot and fragrant, about 2 min. Remove from the heat and crumble in the oregano. Toss the drained edamame pods with the chili salt. Serve warm with a side bowl on the table for the empty pods.

This recipe is from How to Boil Water by the Food Network Kitchens.
