May Book Update

  • Firebirds edited by November, Sharyn- This was ok.  It was not the best book of short stories I have ever read.  I was unimpressed.
  • Spindle’s End by McKinley, Robin- This is my second time reading this book.  I really enjoy McKinley’s writing style and this story is a revision of Sleeping Beauty.  I love fairy tales and fantasy stories.  And this story has strong female characters instead of the weak characters that the dude has to save.
  • Bitter Sweets by Farooki, Roopa- I really enjoyed the beginning and middle of this book.  It’s a story about a family who lies all the times.  They create these webs that become harder and harder to manage.  The character development was really nuanced.  The big disappointment for me was ending.  It wrapped up in a pretty little bow and thats just not the way lying and deception work in the real world.
